Adele Norman, BSc Hons, MBPsS, MSc, BCBA

Hello, I’m Adele, the Clinical Director at HD ABA Consultancy. I have been working in the field of behaviour analysis for over 15 years. After graduating with a degree in Psychology in 2004, I began my first tutoring role with a young child with Autism on an established ABA program. It was not long before I had started with a second child just beginning their ABA journey. Since then, I have supported many children on various ABA and VB programs to achieve their full potential. Since 2014, I have case supervised and consulted on both home and school ABA programs and provided training and supervision to parents, tutors and professionals. I was also heavily involved in the set up of the first of the Focus Saturday School based in Liverpool which started in 2013/2014

Presently, I work within Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) for adults with learning disabilities and autism who engage in behaviour that challenges as well as working independently with children and young adults with similar diagnoses . This has given me vast experience in reducing behaviour that challenges using both PBS and Trauma Informed Care approaches and subsequently improving the Quality of Life of individuals. I also have experience teaching a wide range of functional skills, communication skills, social skills 20171026_192325-e1509655408416and academic skills using behavioural approaches to a wide range of people with differing needs and abilities.

I have extensive experience working children and teenagers diagnosed with Emotional, Social and Behaviour Disorder in secondary, primary and nurture group settings. This involved designing and implementing programs around social skills, interpersonal skills, emotional literacy, writing and monitoring behaviour support plans as well as taking lead on referrals. I have also worked within young offenders institutions in the education sector.

I have further qualifications in Learning Development & Support Services at level 6/NVQ 4, a Masters degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis and I am a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). I am also Director to the Board for the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis and a member of the British Psychological Society. I regularly attend training and continuous professional development within the field by attending conferences, supervision and training events as often as I can.

 

Toni Howarth, BSc Hons

Hello, I’m Toni ABA Case Manager at HD ABA. I have been part of the team here for over 2 years. I manage my own caseload under the direct Supervision of our Clinical Director, Adele. I started work as an ABA tutor in my first year of studying for my undergraduate degree in Psychology over 7 years ago. I soon went on to lead tutor on programmes where I gained valuable experience that ignited my passion for the science of behaviour and inspired me to begin the pathway to a career in the field.

I have programmed for and taught a wide range of functional skills including communication (PECS, Proloquo2Go), social, functional, academic skills and worked on decreasing barriers to learning. I have worked across nursery,  primary, secondary, mainstream and SEN school settings as well as  home and community programs with both adults and children.54437249_104037790765173_5619853763515777024_n

I am well practised working with children between 18 months – 16 years old on the autism spectrum. I also have experience in supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to gain and maintain work placements. Further to this, I have experience in writing behaviour plans for those who may engage in challenging behaviour.  I have seen first-hand what a positive impact an ABA programme can have, not only with learners but to the family as a whole.

I have completed the taught part of my MSc in ABA at Queens University Belfast and will be submitting my Thesis shortly. I have had the opportunity to work as a Behaviour Supervisor at the local ABA Saturday School. I was responsible for conducting assessments, designing interventions in key skill areas, training staff and parents to implement targets, monitoring progress and writing progress reports. I am also nearing completion of  my supervised fieldwork hours, working  toward recognised certification in the field of behaviour analysis. I am also a member of the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis
