What is it?
Behaviour Analysis is the science behind why we do the things we do. Everything we do is behaviour and there’s always a reason why we do it. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) applies these scientific principles to all aspects of behaviour change. This could be increasing (teaching) functional skills as well as reducing behaviours that challenge.
ABA has developed greatly since it’s foundations back in the 1960’s and 70’s, just like all sciences do. It has a vast evidence based research background in demonstrating its efficacy in changing behaviours. Contrary to popular belief, is not just applicable in the world of Autism – although research has shown ABA to be the most effective tool, particularly in Early Intervention. As ABA is applied to behaviour, is relevant everyday, all around – even now ABA principles can be applied to your reading of this.
